Concept
The idea behind this case study was to create a luxury sub-brand for Delta airlines. I needed to create four screens and three widgets along with an airline wrap. This was strictly design based case study. Because of this, I did not have to prototype the screens or widgets.
Research
I did various research on the Delta airline brand and their history as a company. There were numerous things I found interesting. For example, Delta started out as dust croppers then upgraded to air mail (no passengers), and then finally became a passenger plane. They also made major changes in the airline industry. They tried to have a sub-brand named “Song” which was meant to be less costly flying options. Even though the sub-brand did not take off, many of Delta’s ideas were successful. They implemented TV’s on the back of seats for consumers to watch, on flight meals, and much more that is now used by all major airlines. Another really interesting thing about Delta is that they were responsible for traveling the Olympic flame. I decided to go with this idea and decided to also connect it to mythology and the origins of the Olympics.
Final
After getting most of my information down on the screens, I was able to play around with the layout and design. I was able to figure out and refine the size of the type, icons, logo, and other small but still important items. I continued to develop my widgets and airplane wrap too. I did not like how cluttered this appeared, so I tried to go back to a more simple design, especially for the airline wrap.
