Concept
For this case study I created Aurelia Cafe. My goal was to explore a more illustrative style and how that could potentially be used in packaging, environmental design, and more.
Research
For this case study I got a lot of inspiration from jellyfish. A lot of my research focused on jellyfish. I was able to come up with the name Aurelia through my research. Aurelia is a scientific name for a jellyfish and I thought it fit perfectly. When doing my research I knew I wanted to go a more illustrative way with my designs. Because of this I did not focus as much on the typefaces and logo, but instead the illustrations. I applied these illustrations to packaging and environmental design that could be used. I also did a lot of research on existing packaging, especially packaging which was more illustrative.
Final
For the final I created several designs for packaging. I was able to create to-go cups, coffee bags, and signs for Aurelia Cafe. I also expanded my illustrations to include four types of jellyfish, all based on real jellyfish. I used a lot of bright colors for the jellyfish and kelp in order to make them pop on the design. I also used a darker background in order to get the illustration depth.
